Prompt: Now that you’ve had a bit of experience with both synchronous and asynchronous online peer conferencing, which modality and platform do you gravitate towards and why?  How would you prefer to conference with your 1200 classmates?  Your High School writing partners?

For peer conferencing, although we didn’t use one of these methods in my group, I tend to gravitate towards traditional stand-alone instant messaging programs. A few that I have used in the past are AIM, MSN, and Skype. I think these would be good for communicating with both classmates and our high school writing partners, if it is something that would be appropriate for them to use. I also like using (asynchronous) methods such as email, simply for the convenience; if you are only able to type one question rather than carry on a full conversation it is useful, and if the other person is unavailable at the time they can send you a message at their convenience.
